How did States start their journey to space and, more importantly:why?
What are some of the most important keystones of the development of space technologies and how did lawmakers endeavored to catch up with the emergence of new activities?
This presentation will explain how humans made space law, strengthened it, broke it and are adapting it to existing space missions and programs. In addition to the presentation, students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on problem-solving activities related to space law. The students will also discover how dual-use objects, operated for both civilian and military purposes, are considered in space law.

Laetitia Cesari Zarkan
Laetitia is a doctoral researcher in Space Law and Cyber Law at Luxembourg University. She is also currently working for the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). Her primary research areas are legal and political issues related to space safety, security, stability and sustainability.
Ivan Fino
Ivan Fino is a graduate of Roma Tor Vergata (Italy) in “Legal Security Sciences.” His dissertation was on Environmental Law. He is working on a Master’s degree in Law at the University of Turin, Italy. His research thesis is about the application of a legal trust system for outer space. Ivan Fino also holds a master’s degree in space institutions and policies organized by SIOI. He has taken part in numerous conferences on international law and has written several papers about space law
Pietro Santoriello
Space Economy Consultant at Partners4Innovation, Digital360 Group, previously Space Economy, Observation and Navigation Intern at Thales Alenia Space. Graduated in International Sciences and European Institutions at Università degli Studi di Milano, Master in Space Policies and Institutions at Società Italiana per l’Organizzazione Internazionale, attending the Space Economy Program at SEAC Business School.
